When your draft is too wide it may be because a word, link or heading is too long and breaks the layout. A broken layout is means a broadened draft that breaks your structure and the layout will also look broken on a mobile device or computer. When you break the layout, the block editor will inform you that a word is too long and needs to be shorten through a text message shown as a header. In this article we will present and introduce examples of broken layouts.
Too long headlines
If the headline is too big och long your margins will be replaced and it will create lots of white space in your draft. You may see that your logo is removed from its place due to the layout break. In this case we advise you to shorten your text och make it smaller so it fits in the design and layout.
A word is too long in the right/left column
Our Block editor doesn’t wrap your text, this means that any word that is too long will break your layout if you have chosen a layout with a left or right column. This can be a problem when you e.g. write your e-mail address and create a link to it, if it’s placed in a sidebar or in two/three-columns block it may break your layout. Instead of writing your full e-mail address we recommend that you write “e-mail” in text and link your email address to the word instead.
A word is too long in a text column
Writing your website adress in full text can cause layout breaks if you use big font size or long word in two or three column block. Layout breaks also occurs when you write your full e-mail address och a long word. We would recommend that you link to your website and e-mail address instead and use hyphens for the words that are too long.
